St Michael’s has a very active social justice program with a dual focus on awareness and action. The student leaders lead the student body in a variety of initiatives including the Lenten CARITAS Appeal, St Vincent De Paul Appeals and Catholic Mission. The school also has a very active Mini Vinnies Group.
The school encourages students to propose other areas for social justice work at a local level. This may change from year to year in response to the needs of the local community. For example, in 2018 there was an enormous effort to support farmers affected by the drought. Each Easter and Christmas the students visit the local aged care facilities to sing, chat and spread some Easter and Christmas cheer.
